Notes From NeoCon 2011
Our roving reporter made these notes about the Herman Miller showroom:
- The general overall theme for the show was "working together" and the showroom was set up in various vignettes that show Canvas work settings — shared + individual workstations with collaborative areas mixed in
- It's all about offering people choices to work, meet, and learn plus offering them stimulating environments in which to do so
- The main areas of focus were:
- Canvas Office Landscape
- Solutions for Higher Education
- Advo and Sayl chairs
- Luxo Lighting alliance
- Materials: four new fabrics through Herman Miller's alliance with Luna plus one new leather
- The showroom was set up just like a typical office, including a C-Suite area with Geiger furnishings
- New technology: Short throw projection using the new Canvas Tech Wall, featuring wireless connectivity and allowing multiple people to project their computer or laptop screens at one time
- An unrivaled 60-year legacy of seating: from the Eames Molded Plywood chair to the Embody and Setu chairs.
- New Herman Miller Alliance Company: Magis Design, a leading Italian furniture company focusing on indoor/outdoor furniture
- Power up: power can through both Canvas and Meridian storage units.
- Canvas enhancements: overhead cabinets with hinged doors, common thin tops, new signature screen finishes, and a universal post leg
